てんでんこ　Tendenko

　日に本ほんの東北とうほく地ち方ほうにある三陸さんりく地ち方ほうには、「てんでんこ」という言葉ことばがあります。

「てんでんこ」は、「各かく自じ」「めいめい」という意味いみの「てんでん」という名めい詞しに、名めい詞しや形容けいよう詞しにつけて、「小ちいさい」「少すこし」といった意味いみの「こ」という指小辞ししょうじをつけた言葉ことばです。

　そして、昔むかしから三陸さんりく地ち方ほうには、「津つ波なみが起おきたらてんでんこだ」という言いい伝つたえがあります。意味いみは、「津つ波なみが来きたら、取とる物ものも取とりあえず、誰だれにもかまわずに、各かく自じ、てんでんばらばらに一人ひとりで高台たかだいへ逃にげろ」ということです。

　津つ波なみが起おきたときの水みずの勢いきおいはとてもすさまじく、あっという間まに高たかい波なみにさらわれてしまいます。

　誰だれかをかまっていると、みんなが高たかい波なみにさらわれてしまいます。自じ分ぶんの命いのちは自じ分ぶんで守まもることに加くわえて、進すすんで素す早ばやく逃にげることで、人々ひとびとに避ひ難なんすることの大切たいせつさを示しめします。

　家か族ぞくみんなが前まえもってこの言葉ことばの意味いみを話はなし合あい、それぞれが高台たかだいに逃にげていることを信しんじて逃にげるということで、命いのちが危き険けんな人ひとをほっておいて自じ分ぶんだけ逃にげればいいという意味いみではありません。

　それほど、津つ波なみはこわいということでもありますし、すぐに逃にげることの大切たいせつさを示しめす言葉ことばです。

　12年前ねんまえに起おこった東日本ひがしにほん大震災だいしんさいの時ときにも、たくさんの人ひとが津つ波なみにさらわれて、亡なくなったり、行方ゆくえ不明ふめいになったりしています。

Tendenko　

　In the Sanriku region in the Tohoku region of Japan, there is a word “Tendenko”.

　The word “Tendenko” is a noun meaning “each one”  with the suffix “ko,” meaning “small” or “little,” attached to nouns or adjectives.

　And there is an old saying in the Sanriku area, “If a tsunami happens, it is a Tendenko. The meaning of this saying is, “When a tsunami comes, you should run to high ground alone, without taking care of anything or anyone else.

　When a tsunami occurs, the force of the water is so great that you will be swept away by the high waves in the blink of an eye.

　If you are concerned about someone else, you will all be swept away by the high waves. In addition to protecting your own life, you can show people how important it is to evacuate by running away quickly and willingly.

　It means that everyone in the family should discuss the meaning of the word in advance and run away believing that each person is running to higher ground, and it does not mean that you should just run away while leaving those whose lives are in danger alone.

　It means that tsunamis are scary, and the word indicates the importance of escaping immediately.

　In the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred 12 years ago, many people were killed or went missing after being swept away by the tsunami.
