皆既月食（かいきげっしょく）Total Lunar Eclipse

　月つきは、地球ちきゅうのまわりをおよそ1いっか月げつをかけて公転こうてんしているため、太陽たいようの光ひかりが照てらされる部分ぶぶんが地球ちきゅう上じょうから見みると、変化へんかして見みえます。

　これを、月つきの満みち欠かけといいます。

　地球ちきゅうから見みて、太陽たいようが月つきの真正面ましょうめんを照てらしている時ときは満月まんげつです。

　そこから、だんだん左ひだりの方ほうが欠かけて細ほそく見みえます。月つきが太陽たいようの光ひかりの方ほうに来くると月つきの姿すがたが見みえない新月しんげつになります。

　月食げっしょくは、月つきが満月まんげつの時ときに起おこる現象げんしょうです。

　月食げっしょくは、月つきが地球ちきゅうの影かげに入はいりこんで暗くらく見みえる現象げんしょうです。

　太陽たいようと地球ちきゅうと月つきが、この順じゅんで一直線いっちょくせんに並ならぶことがあります。こうなると、地球ちきゅうがじゃまになって、太陽たいようの光ひかりが月つきに当あたらなくなって、見みえなくなります。これが月食げっしょくです。多おおくの場ば合あいは、月つきの一部いちぶだけが黒くろくなるのですが、時々ときどき見みえなくなることがあります。

　これが皆既かいき月食げっしょくです。

　日本にほんでは、今日きょう2022年ねん11月がつ8日ようかの午後ごご6時ろくじから10時じゅうじごろまで月食げっしょくが見みられます。全まったく見みえなくなるわけではなく、黄き色いろい月つきが赤あかく見みえます。

　皆既かいき月食げっしょくは、午後ごご7時じ17分ふんごろから85分間ふんかんぐらい続つづきます。

Total Lunar Eclipse

　Since the moon orbits the earth for about one month, the part of the moon illuminated by the sun’s rays appears to change when viewed from the earth.

　This is called the waxing and waning of the moon.

　The moon is full when the sun shines directly in front of the moon as seen from the earth.

　From there, the moon gradually fades to the left and appears thinner. When the moon comes toward the light of the sun, it is a new moon, when the moon is not visible.

　A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is full.

　A lunar eclipse is a phenomenon in which the moon appears darker when it enters the shadow of the earth.

　Sometimes the sun, earth, and moon line up in this order. When this happens, the sun’s light does not shine on the moon because the earth is blocking the light, and the moon becomes invisible. This is a lunar eclipse. It is not totally invisible, but the yellow moon appears red.

　This is a total lunar eclipse.

　In Japan, a lunar eclipse will be visible from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, November 8, 2022.

　The total lunar eclipse will begin around 7:17 p.m. and last for about 85 minutes.
